Mfuwe Lodge is one of two permanent lodges located within South Luangwa National Park.  It is hidden away among the huge ebony and fig trees on the banks of an oxbow lagoon.

Accommodation is provided in 18 open-plan chalets, each with en-suite bathroom and thatched roof designed to guarantee ventilation. Each chalet has a large private deck overlooking one of the lagoons.

The central lodge provides reception, lounge, dining and bar areas. A broad timber deck cantilevers over the main lagoon where guests may view animals come down to drink. An open boma offers  dinners under starlit African skies and after dinner drinks and talk around the campfire.

The deck  accommodates the swimming pool which also overlooks the main lagoon. A library is dedicated to nature, African culture, tradition and history.

The South Luangwa National Park is noted for the diversity of its wildlife, and it is THE home of the walking safari.  Bushcamp guides are highly qualified and knowledgeable and will impart a detailed understanding of the ecology and wildlife as you walk along.

A typical itinerary would start at Mfuwe lodge and spend 2-3 nights each at your choice of the bushcamps  As the distance between the lower 4 camps is about 6 kms each, the distance can be covered as a guided game walk.

While game walks give you an up close and personal view of the bush, game drives will provide an opportunity to see a broader area.  Also, because it is difficult to approach game closely on foot, game drives will enhance your safari experience.  Transfers can also be done by vehicle, and you can enjoy the Bushcamp experience without walking if you prefer.

Kuyenda is nestled amongst shady trees on the banks of the Manzi River.  Accommodation is in 4 authentic thatched rondavels containing large spacious beds, mosquito netting and en-suite facilities including shower, toilet and wash basin.

The central dining area lounge and bar overlook a grassy plain with abundant wildlife where the drama of wild Africa is your stage.

Kuyenda is the ideal base from which to experience the continual unfolding of Africa's dramatic wilderness at close range.

Chamilandu camp is set on a prime but remote location on the Luangwa River, where a series of 7 ox-box lagoons yield a diversity of wildlife and attract abundant wildlife. 

Accommodations are in 2m high tree house chalets. Open to a 180° vista, the front of each tree house provides a birds eye view over the waters of the Luangwa River and Chindeni Hills.  Each is elegantly designed with a tasteful blend of modern classic décor.  The tasteful blend of wrought iron and brass offsets the creams and pastels that welcome you to recline and relax. From the four poster beds you can enjoy the abundant riverine wildlife that has made the valley famous.

Chindeni is situated on the edge of a permanent lagoon with the Chindeni Hills as a magnificent backdrop. Raised on wooden decking, Chindeni's 4 en-suite luxury tents have private decks from which you can view the resident big game or simply enjoy the serenity of the lagoon.

Each tent has 2 queen-sized beds, hot and cold running water, shower, toilet, double vanities and polished floors.

Ancient ebony trees with their sweet fruit shade the bar and dining area and an adjacent, gently sloping walkway provides access to a lagoon-side retreat. From here, guests can enjoy an open air dining experience or the spectacular sundown as it reflects from the still waters of the lagoon.

Bilimungwe is a cool and comfortable camp set beneath magnificent Mahogany trees on the edge of a small plain on the banks of the Luangwa River.

The camp consists of 4 reed and thatch chalets with en-suite shower, toilet and double vanities. The rustic dining area and fully stocked bar are constructed on raised decking with views of Bilimungwe's permanent water hole and abundant game.

The thatched dining canopy provides a cool and comfortable environment in which to enjoy this idyllic setting. The surrounding forest of evergreen shade trees form a majestic backdrop for those seeking the unique African experience.

With its picturesque location on the Kapamba River, this is the Bushcamp Company’s fifth and newest camp. It is  the only bushcamp to stay open until the end of December.

Each of the camp's four chalets is individually designed to offer stunning views of the river, with the open-fronted style ensuring you can enjoy uninterrupted game viewing from the privacy of your own room.

The en-suite bathrooms each have a double-sized sunken stone bath and spacious shower and are open-fronted, so you can unwind in a hot tub while watching the hippos in the river below.

The well-positioned half-moon deck is the focal point of the camp and serves as both the dining and bar area. offeing an ideal viewing point for the abundant wildlife that comes to drink at the river.
