1 |
Depart
Entebbe, visit Lake Mburo enroute to Queen Elizabeth National Park, overnight
camping. Camp is set up at Mweya Lodge. Within these two days, we will
go on a boat cruise on the Kasinga Channel, famous for the hippos and birdlife,
and either visit the chimps on Isinga Island, or trek them in the Chamburu
gorge. Late afternoon game drives will also be conducted in search of Uganda's
unique wildlife such as Giant Forest Hog, Red Forest Buffalo and Ugandan
Kob. |
Day
2 |
Boat
cruise on the Kasinga Channel, famous for the hippos and birdlife, and
either visit the chimps on Isinga Island, or trek them in the Chamburu
gorge. Early morning and late afternoon game drives will also be conducted |
Day
3 |
Morning
game drive out of the park. Drive from QENP at Kabale. Overnight hotel.
FB The road to Kabale takes you into the Uganda Highlands - the Switzerland
of Africa - with great views and vistas of this lush green area. |
Day
4 |
A
picnic lunch and boat trip on the beautiful Lake Bunyoni overnight close
to border of Democratic Republic of Congo. The extinct volcanoes of the
Virungas, home of the Mountain Gorillas, rise above the Zairean rain forest
to a height over 14 000 ft. FB. |
Day
5 |
An
early morning trek into the forest on the slopes of the volcanoes, led
by experienced trackers, will bring you amongst a family of Mountain Gorillas.
These massive primates are extremely rare, only 600 remaining. You will
get within metres of the family, and be privileged to spend time amongst
them. We return to Uganda and overnight at a hotel. |
Day
6 |
Drive
from Kabale via Kampala to bush camp in the savanna near Masindi. Passengers
leaving the trip today will be accommodated at the Entebbe Flight Hotel
and transferred to the airport tomorrow by the hotel. |
Day
7 |
A
short drive via Masindi to the Budongo Forest. Overnight camp at Kaniyo
Pabidi Ecotourist Site - an isolated block of the Budongo Forest which
has never been logged, and is characterised by its huge mahogany and ironwood
trees.
Track
chimpanzees in the forest with the guides, or search for some of the rare
birds such as Chocolate backed and Blue breasted Kingfishers, Black Billed
Touracos and White thighed Hornbills. Because of its remote location lion,
leopard and buffalo are also present as well as seven species of primate. |
Day
8 |
Short
drive to the Murchison Falls National Park. At 3840 sq km this is Uganda's
largest park, and is home to elephant, buffalo, all the big cats and is
well known for birdlife - Shoebill Stork being a sought after rarity. It
also has a large population of hippo and huge crocodiles. Afternoon game
drive. Camping. |
Day
9 |
As
well as game drives, today we will take a cruise up the Nile to the foot
of the falls, a magical trip through some beautiful scenery. The whole
of the Nile River is forced into a gap only 8 metres wide - the immense
forces of the water and the views of the Falls are awe inspiring. Overnight
camping. |
Day
10 |
We
depart early from the Park for the 6 hour drive back to Kampala. Overnight
Entebbe, hotel. Chance to visit the markets, Kasubi Tombs etc. |
