3 nights Kruger Extension

Parque Nacional do Limpopo Mozambique

This is a unique opportunity for a canoing safari on the Olifants RIver just below Massinger starting from the  Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park

he Olifants River dramatically exits Kruger through a spectacular gorge in the Lebombo range,
before being contained by the massive Massingir Dam that forms part of the southern boundary of
Parque Nacional do Limpopo.Below the dam wall, the Rio Elefantes flows east towards the Moçambique coast.

Here on the Rio Elefantes Canoeing Trail, that your ‘have to do in one’s lifetime’ wilderness experience begins.

Map of Park Nacional do Limpopo

1 From our meeting point at the Massingir Gate we journey by road and track through remote villages to the confluence of the
Rio Shingwedzi where we enter the amazingly clear water of the Elefantes.

Depart by canoe from confluence of the Shingwedzi and Olifants River just downstream of Massingir Dam.

1-4 Three days are spent paddling the meandering river and three nights camping wild on its tree-lined
banks. Perhaps a cast or two for tigerfish or a sighting of elephant before our 70 km journey ends
at the confluence of the elegant Elefantes and the mighty Limpopo - ‘the epitome of freedom in this
amazing wilderness area’.
